New Research on Shelters in Norway and Slovakia
Shelters in Norway and Slovakia” is a bilateral research project between the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS) and the Coordinating Methodical Centre (CMC) in Slovakia. This project is part of the Domestic and Gender-based Violence Programme funded by Norwegian Financial Mechanism and implemented by the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development, and Informatization of the Slovak Republic.
The research project aims to explore domestic violence shelters as crucial arenas for support, interventions, and raising awareness. It takes into account the perspectives of not only the women and children exposed to violence but also the dedicated staff and volunteers working at the shelters. Additionally, the project will examine the societal role of shelters in both Norway and Slovakia.
To foster discussions on a wide range of issues concerning support, counseling, specialized, and health services provided for victims of domestic, sexual, and intimate partner violence across various European countries, we are organizing the Conference and Synergy Network Meeting 2023: “Support for Services to Victims of Domestic and Gender-based Violence – A Path to Results and Combating Sexual Violence.” This conference will be held from December 6th to 8th, 2023, coinciding with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign.
