Information in a nutshell

Baroque manor house of the Motešický family was built in 1747 on older foundations. The most important owner of the Baroque manor house was the Motešický family from historical Trenčín county that owned the manor house for 150 consecutive years. In the interwar Czechoslovakia, the manor house was owned by the Vincentian Sisters order. During the communist government, the manor house was nationalised and served as a local vocational boarding school. During that period, the manor house got extensively deteriorated, its dramatic condition was a result of absence of maintenance. Recently, the manot house was repeatedly robbed and interiors were damaged. The manor house is still in that condition. Current owners prevented its further degradation and thefts by installing a camera surveillance system and preparation of the project documentation for its renovation.

Project description

The subject of the project is the radical content transformation of a part of the manor house of the Motešický family in the village of Ladce into a cultural and creative center. Its existence will benefit local citizens by stimulating their creative potential, as well as local actors in the cultural and creative industries. The restored monument is still a place with an exceptional genius loci, the Baroque mansion was built in the 18th century on older foundations and at the beginning of the 20th century was adapted into a monastery. The aim of the project is to restore the most valuable part of the manor house - its western wing, where there are two corner towers with an onion-shaped roof. In terms of content, the project focuses on the implementation of cultural, educational, and artistic activities. Among the educational events, emphasis is placed on building an awareness of the Motešický family, after whose the manor house is named, as well as on research into the history of the local Jewish community, which in 1942 represented several families.
