Information in a nutshell
The Draškovič manor house in Čachtice is a historical object that originated, based on architectonic-historical research, in the 17th century. Along with the church, it forms the oldest urbanistic part of the village today. In 1963, the manor house was declared a cultural landmark and currently it is registered as the national cultural landmark. The manor house is owned by the Trenčín Self-Governing Region and the plot and the manor house are administered by the Trenčín Museum. These day, the manor house is used as a museum focused on the history of the village, former small town of Čachtice, as well as on the personality of Alžbeta Báthory, who made Čachtice infamous at the European level. Although she was not the owner of the Draškovič manor house, her fate and reputation of the biggest serial killer in the history of Hungary (allegedly, she had several hundreds of young girls killed and bathed in their blood in order to acquire eternal youth), could not remain unnoticed by the history.
