Project description
The SLICE project, "A piece that is larger than the sum of all its parts" of the Slovak-Icelandic cultural exchange, will bring cultural activities to young people, seniors, and excluded communities of the town of Banská Štiavnica, who, despite growing interest in local culture, are not traditional target groups. At the same time, the project will support the preservation of the cultural center, which has been operating for 22 years, by co-financing its regular activities and exchanging experiences with the cultural center in Iceland. Cultural exchange between the two countries is aimed at women artists. Leading Slovak artists, singer Katarína Malíková and dancer Soňa Ferienčíková, and Icelandic musicians JFDR and Sóley have given their prior consent to perform at the IÐNÓ club in Reykjavík and the Slovak Art Cafe. Thematically, the cultural activities of the year-round Art Cafe dramaturgy will focus on i.a. the inclusion of the local Roma minority, anti-discrimination and universal political and civil rights. During the years 2021-2022, the continuation of two festivals will be organized, Spolu Šobov and the 4th year of WORD or MUSIC.
